Top Annual Reports - Mediocre at Best!
In an earlier post, I announced that I would review the annual reports of some of Fortune’s top companies. I was going to turn this into a multi-part series, but quickly learned that there was a lack of good data visualizations. I found this rather surprising considering we are talking about Billion dollar companies in the upper echelon of U.S. Businesses. I even included some of the top technology companies, like IBM, Microsoft and Business Intelligence authority, Business Objects in an attempt to find some quality examples.
First, I would like to say that not one of these annual reports impressed me. A few were just okay, with many being poor! Below is a thumbnail and link to a table of my ratings for each company’s report in order from okay to really non-existent. On a good note, most of these reports had a minimal amount of chartjunk!
Coming soon – I will take a few examples from this analysis and discuss what a better data visualization option may have been for these annual reports.
